Workout diets

I often get asked what the simplest thing to eat and drink before and during training is. It seems most people don’t have the time to bake a potato, steam some rice or fix a shake, as is often prescribed. But there are alternatives out there that are simple and effective.
The first of two easy options is to buy yourself a pre-workout shake. The other, and this may surprise some, is to grab yourself a ripe banana from your nearest grocer or supermarket.
Why a banana before a workout, you might ask? Well, if you want a quick fix for flagging energy levels there is no better snack than a banana. Bananas contain three natural sugars -“ sucrose, fructose, and glucose. Combined with fibre, one banana can give you an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. And that’s a perfect way to kick off your workout.
Research has shown that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit for the world’s leading athletes.
Bananas can also overcome and prevent a large number of illnesses and conditions, making them even more of a must in your daily diet. In addition to all this, bananas have been proven to help alleviate depression, PMS, anemia and high blood pressure and prevent a reduction of brain power. They are loaded with many essential minerals and vitamins so, before hitting the gym, try eating two bananas and see if you can spot the difference.
It follows then that I would also be asked what people should drink before a workout.
Gatorade has spent millions of dollars on research and development of their sports drinks to ensure they are a complete drink for any athlete. I only drink Gatorade and would suggest you not be fooled by other products that have not been around for 42 years and are mere imitations of the quality of Gatorade. The company is constantly improving the formula based on new scientific evidence.
I take a few swigs before, during and after my workout to ensure I have the energy I need to sustain myself throughout the entire program.
