Young Divas are turning loose

The Young Divas are happening all over again but this time with a new song list and new group member Jessica Mauboy.
As with Human Nature and their Motown success, the group is hoping its new album of covers, New Attitude, will reach the same heights as their self-titled debut.
The Australian Idol graduates are no strangers to the gay world. The group was a headline act at Mardi Gras this year and some of the members have performed at Arq nightclub.
“The gay community is the best audience to perform to and I love them,” Emily Williams said. “Mardi Gras was amazing. Everyone was so happy and the crowd was so loud.”
“I was at Arq a few weeks ago,” Paulini Curuenavuli added.
Mauboy, a baby to the scene, was amazed at how massive the group’s gay following is.
“We definitely have to take you to Arq, Jess,” Kate DeAraugo said. “It goes off and it’s the best place to dance.”
The new single Turn Me Loose, a Loverboy cover, features the New Zealand rapper Savage. Mauboy sings the majority of the verses.
“It’s a fun song and I really enjoyed singing it,” Mauboy said. “The song also represents my debut in the Young Divas.”
New Attitude is packed with covers including If I Can’t Have You, Chain Reaction and I’m So Excited.
“This album is extremely camp and the gay community is going to love it,” DeAraugo said.
“I think the campest song is the bonus track Dear Santa, Bring Me A Man This Christmas.”
The girls are hoping to tour next year as they release a couple of new singles plus make several appearances at gay nightclubs around the country.
