Labor to form minority government

Rob Oakeshott and Tony Windsor will support the Labor Party.

The Labor Party is now set to form a minority Government in the House of Representatives with 76 seats to the Coalition’s 74.

Windsor nominated Labor’s broadband plans “too good an opportunity to miss,” and climate change as the issues that helped form his decision.

After a lengthy explanation, Oakeshott also announced he would side with Labor to help form Government.

North Queensland independent Bob Katter earlier today indicated he would back the Coalition.

On the ABC’s Q&A program last night, Katter dodged attempts to answer questions on remarks he made in the past denying the existence of gay people in his electorate.
