Rolik new NMG CEO

Michael Rolik has been appointed the new CEO of New Mardi Gras.
Rolik, a long-term Mardi Gras volunteer and former treasurer of the organisation, will fill the void left by Anna McInerney, who finishes on December 18 after five years with the organistion.
“In 1993, when I saw my first parade, my passion was ignited and the following year I answered an ad for parade volunteers,” Rolik said.
“I was immediately hooked and Mardi Gras has been a part of my life ever since because to put it simply, it allowed me to be who I am.
“Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of working for and with many diverse and talented people across both Mardi Gras organisations. I am thrilled and feel privileged to be in a leadership position for one of Sydney’s and the world’s most iconic cultural festivals and one that delivers significant social and economic benefit.
Rolik has 15 years volunteer experience with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, having worked in a diverse range of roles including parade start director, parade co-chair, Sleaze Ball co-chair, parade director, treasurer and board member.
He has worked in a variety of senior management positions, including a global talent management company in Australia and the UK and for one of Australia’s leading insurance brands.
Rolik also worked on the Sydney 2000 Olympics Opening Ceremony athlete’s parade and has held production management positions at the 2006 Doha Asian Games. Most recently, he ran his own management consultancy specialising in management development working with corporate and not for profit organisations in Sydney, London and Hong Kong.
“We are delighted to welcome Michael back to the organisation in the role of CEO ,” NMG co-chair Steph Sands said in a written statement.
“He brings a wealth of experience from his rich history of Mardi Gras involvement, in addition to his event management and corporate management experience. The board is confident that he is the right person to take the organisation to the next level.”
Rolick said he had a very high regard for the work of NMG staff and volunteers and was looking forward to working alongside them. He also paid tribute to McInerney’s five years in the role.
