New inclusivity service for businesses
A new initiative of the Queensland Association for Healthy Communities (QAHC) will aim to promote inclusivity of LGBTI employees and the community within organisations and businesses.
The LGBT Inclusivity Consultancy service has been developed after moves in recent years for large corporations and businesses to offer more support to and reach out to their LGBTI employees.
The service has also been designed to not only focus on employees of companies that request it but also their clients and customers.
Over the past few years, organisations such as Telstra, major banks and universities have all tried to actively become more inclusive as an open minded and more welcoming work environment can serve a company immensely.
Reseach has shown that work remains one of the last and major hurdles LGBTI people face when it comes to being ‘out’.
QAHC hopes that the consultancy service can provide businesses with advice about inclusive policies, procedures, working environment, community involvement and more.
QAHC’s Training and Development Program has been offering practical support to community and health services to enhance relationships with LGBTI clients since 2005.
