Round two for rural mag
Looking at regional LGBTI culture and music, The Den magazine will return with its second edition in April.
The magazine began last year and focuses on arts and music coming from queer rural communities.
The launch party will showcase about 18 acts and an art exhibition themed ‘Queer or Occult’ on Friday, April 13. SSO columnist and former Hungry Beast reporter Monique Schafter will feature in the next edition, along with artists and musicians from rural areas.
Editor Nick Kelly said the magazine highlighted cultural matters in regional LGBTI communities.
“It gets the word out about what’s happening, who’s interesting, and also placing a bit more value on what’s happening here so when people are looking at places to go, it’s not always your capital cities.”
The Den’s next launch will be at the Gateway Hotel, Islington, NSW on Friday, April 13, 6.30pm.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can
LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.
When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.
Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
