Sydney and Melbourne go head-to-head

There’ll be no love lost when Sydney’s lesbian and gay water polo club, the Sydney Stingers, take on their Victorian rivals Melbourne Surge this Saturday, January 23 at the South Yarra Sports Centre in Melbourne.
Both teams have been training hard in the lead up to the annual grudge match weekend, with the Stingers putting in additional training sessions since November last year.
The tournament, held during the Midsumma Festival each year, sees teams from the sister clubs compete in the official ‘grudge’ match on the Saturday followed immediately by a ‘scratch’ match, and has a reputation for being a highly physical encounter.
