When Mars sits opposite Neptune
Since 13 June, Mars, the planet of war, has been opposite Neptune, the god of the seas.
When two planets are opposite each they can balance each other out or one can overpower the other. It’s not that they intend to do this. If you have a match and you put it into a bucket of water the bucket of water will put out the flame, but if you take the same bucket of water and put it on a raging fire the fire will evaporate the water. So too will be the balancing act of Neptune and Mars’s energies.
Neptune is also in retrograde, and this creates a special kind of dynamic which can be stimulating us to re-examine our hopes, dreams and desires.
Mars brings with it the energy to take action, but Neptune wants to keep the dream inside. The struggle between our internal and external self will create a more balanced individual by keeping the dream alive and taking it out into the world. After all, what good is a dream if you can’t share it?
