Dance the night away

Dance the night away

Fasten your seatbelts on Saturday, November 12, because it’s shaping up to be huge!

To kick off in good family fun, come to Viva la Gong, enjoy the festivities and watch the parade come through town with food and free entertainment. Viva is always a great day out celebrating our local arts and culture and well worth a look.

Community members who would like to participate in the parade, please contact Trevor on 02 4226 1163.

If you like it rough, you might find your way to the roller derby, where our local team will do battle once again. Book early by visiting http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=225187974210141

The Wollongong Illawarra Roller Derby (WIRD) girls have kindly allowed ACON to fundraise for World AIDS Day so please buy a red ribbon on your way to your seat from the table at the door.

The money raised through the Red Ribbon Appeal helps prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS through education campaigns as well as to provide the services and facilities essential to the health and wellbeing of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

If dancing is your thing, UNITY hosts its last dance of the year, celebrating the theme ‘UNITY Goes GAGA’ on the same night, Saturday, November 12.

As usual there will be a free bus and entry to Castro’s, fabulous prizes worth hundreds of dollars to be won including a major prize donated by Turtle Cove Beach Resort in Cairns. Entry is $10 on the night at the Beaton Park Tennis Club.

Although the dance runs from 8pm-12.30am, if you find yourself with free time from noon, feel free to drop in and lend a hand in decorating and setting up.

Also that night, the Phoenix Theatre (host of 2010’s CabaRed fundraiser for World AIDS Day) will be showcasing Medea, its latest and first official piece of theatre on the main stage. If intense drama is your style, bookings for this and other performances can be made at http://www.phoenixtheatre.net.au/bookings.html

Hope to see you there!
