HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

beverly buttercup 2 web

OMFG. It’s my birthday and I’ll bitch if I want to.

This month I celebrate 21 years of doing drag, meaning I’m 46! Oh how time flies! In this time, I’ve seen so many venues come and go. We’ve lost many in Western Sydney as well as the city.  Oh I’m showing my age now.  With me reducing how much drag I do because I am an old ‘has been’, I have put things into practice to increase the patronage at our social dances. That means for the first half of the year Heaven will not be doing production shows. For the first two dances we have decide to do theme orientated nights , and our first night this Saturday 16th March will be “Retro Heaven” followed by  the 18th May’s “Heaven and Hell”.  For more information go to our website.

After 16 marches in the Mardi Gras Parade, finally I can now be called a television celebrity.  This year I spent the day with a film crew who captured the transformation from Bradlee to Beverly on the day, and then followed me on the parade route.  My partners in crime Charisma Belle (making a cameo appearance) and the ever lovely Carmen Geddit (stepping in at the last minute to do my makeup) joined me for the mini documentary that screened on Sunrise on Sunday 3rd March.  Haha check it out below; It’s a great laugh:

I teamed up with Western Sydney’s newest superstar Danger Del Rey and off we went to the party, where we stuck around to see the fabulous Mitzi Macintosh in the opening show at midnight. We hung around till 2.00 in the morning to check out Delta Goodrem but sadly I was back in the motel room like an old mole by 4.00am. Just remember I am 21, which is old for a drag queen. Over 10,000 performers took part in the parade to help celebrate the 35 year anniversary of Mardi Gras.  But alas I was the only one on Sunrise.

SURPRISE, SURPRISE

There is a new night coming and its called “Nightlife Social Dance”. It originally was going to be at Bexley but due to a blow out in cost the organisers have relocated it to the Canterbury Bowling Club with their first dance being on the Easter long weekend 30th March.  You ask what’s the difference between this one and the others that run in New South Wales?

1) There is no cover charge it is totally free.
2) It includes a free Barbeque.
3) It has fabulous entertainment by myself, Sandy Bottom and newcomer Debbie Foreveryone.
4) It is being sponsored by a major supermarket chain giving back to the GLBT community or to its gay staff anyway.

With big plans to run it monthly hopefully the money will not run out too quickly because you have nothing to lose by checking it out because it is free entry.  How fabulous! See you all there. INFO: www.nightlifesocialdance.com

I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE

Which lighting/camera technician and everybody’s confidante has decided to have his 50th birthday party at Nightlife Social Dance because its free and there is free food.  Does this mean he is a cheap old man or an intelligent old man.  I will let you be the Judge.  Add your comments below.
