Caring With Pride
Every day, thousands of Queenslanders provide unpaid care to someone important in their lives who may be living with disability, mental illness, chronic health condition, or have age-related needs. While caring can be rewarding, it can also be demanding, and many carers find little time to focus on their own wellbeing.
LGBTQIA+ carers may face additional challenges in finding supports where they feel genuinely welcomed, understood, and free to be themselves.
For LGBTQIA+ carers and people with disability, experiences of discrimination, social isolation, or barriers to accessing inclusive services can impact wellbeing and make it harder to find the right support. At Carers Queensland, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued, regardless of their gender identity, sexuality or family structure.
Support is available and no one should have to navigate their caring responsibilities, disability, or life challenges alone.

As Queensland’s peak body for carers and largest NDIS partner in the community, Carers Queensland is committed to creating welcoming environments where carers, people with disability and their families can access information, support, and services, including a range of vocational courses through our training and education program.
Carers Queensland’s participation in Brisbane Pride is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the members of the LGBTQIA+ community living with disability as well as those providing care and support to others. Whether you are living with disability or caring for a partner, parent, child, chosen family member, or friend, your contribution matters. We are proud to stand alongside LGBTQIA+ communities and work towards a future where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.
Carers Queensland is here to help. Together, we can ensure people have the recognition, resources, and connections they need to thrive. To find out more visit the Carers Queensland Facebook page or email rainbow@carersqld.com.au.
Support the Star Observer… while you still can
LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.
When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.
Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
