Consensual gay sex was illegal in Queensland until 1991.
The hundreds of men who were convicted for gay sex offences up until 1991 can now apply to have their criminal records cleared.
If the bill is passed the historical convictions will be annulled, and the men will receive compensation payments for their convictions and for each year spent in jail.
