International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) falls every year on May 17.
“We invite everyone to join Mardi Gras this season to celebrate diversity and creativity, and to champion the fearless voices within our community.”
Saturday’s Carnival Day is the festival’s centerpiece, featuring over 50 market stalls, food vendors, live entertainers, and fun attractions.
“If you’re newly curious or a lapsed lazy bear, now’s the perfect time to hunt down your nearest bear activities and jump into the fun”
“Did your business fly a rainbow for marriage equality? Good, now what are you doing to support your trans employees? IDAHOBIT is a day to encourage behind the scenes action and change.”
“It’s about celebrating transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary lifestyles and raising awareness to the wider community that we are out there”
Past years have seen everything from drag performance and contemporary dance to traditional Indian dance, spoken word, and beatboxing.
