Western Australia delivers marriage equality for transgender people
“No one should be forced to choose between being legally recognised for who they are, or staying married to the person they love.”
“No one should be forced to choose between being legally recognised for who they are, or staying married to the person they love.”
“I can now apply to be legally recognised as female. This will help me with gaining employment and to be recognised for who I truly am,” said Arrernte sistergirl Rosalina Curtis.
Morrison took to Twitter this morning to condemn the reforms, which include making gender markers optional on birth certificates, as “ridiculous”.
The stickers, which are shaped like penises, bear the words “women don’t have penises”.
“Removing the divorce requirement and removing the surgery requirement are linked by the same principles and affect the same people, which is why we want to see them happen at the same time.”
The reforms would allow male same-sex couples access to altruistic surrogacy, and allow trans people to change the gender marker on their birth certificates without forced divorce.
