The GLOBE Community Awards return this year for the sixth year, recognising significant individual and organisational achievement benefiting Victoria’s LGBTI community.
Nominations for this year’s GLOBE Community Awards are also now open.
“Niche community groups and individuals will need all the help they can get to continue to advocate for equality – the fight for LGBTI rights is not over.”
“I remember being at a street party and having young people come up to me and say they didn’t know we stayed dykes when we got older.”
Wiggins was emotional as he accepted the award – which he received for his tireless work in trans health for more than 15 years – and dedicated it to his children.
“This year’s finalists for the [sports] award all identify as transgender, which is testament to the amazing work that our trans community has been doing to increase inclusion in sports.”
