The Tasmanian Greens Party has passed a motion condemning the federal government’s controversial Religious Discrimination Bill in the hopes of protecting the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Act. …
“Just as it was well past time for marriage equality in 2017, so too is it well past time for appropriate primary identity documents for trans and gender diverse people in 2019.”
Current legislation requires trans and gender diverse people to have undergone costly and intensive sex reassignment surgery before being able to apply for a change on their certificate.
Despite countless polls suggesting Labor was the overwhelming favourite to topple the Liberal-National Coalition, Prime Minister Scott Morrison ultimately swept the Coalition to victory.
