“As a community, it’s important that we celebrate those whose names don’t make the headlines, as well as our more high-profile achievers.”
The Equality Campaign and the Human Rights Law Centre shared the Community Organisation award for their work in achieving marriage equality last year.
“Their contribution to our community has been literally life-saving and it’s particularly timely to acknowledge their collective achievements.”
Pantsdown was nominated in the Media Award category, with Kennedy nominated for Community Hero alongside Sue Thompson, Peta Friend, and Shane Brown.
“As a community, it’s important that we celebrate our unsung heroes as well as our more high-profile achievers.”
Elaine was presented with the award for over 20 years of LGBTI rights advocacy.
Professor David Cooper will be honoured with ACON’s President’s Award at the upcoming Honour Awards.
The awards are a celebration of the LGBTI community’s strength and resilience.
