In denying Semenya’s appeal, arbitrators supported regulations that will force female athletes with naturally high testosterone levels to undergo hormone therapy while also admitting they are “discriminatory”.
The UN Human Rights Council resolution expressed concern that regulations forcing athletes to take hormone therapy in order to compete “may contravene international human rights norms and standards”.
