Brisbane’s iconic Wickham Hotel will once again host the Gay Community Periodic Survey after facing backlash from the LGBTI community for refusing to host the surveys at its venue last year.
The Wickham Hotel has announced it will offer the Gay Community Periodic Survey via a dropbox option. HIV organisations and academics have welcomed the move but said it was not the “optimum” delivery method and defended the survey’s role in LGBTI-friendly venues.
The Wickham Hotel has refused to allow the annual Gay Community Periodic Survey and COUNT study from being held at the venue. The decision has been labelled “disappointing” and “concerning” by academics running the surveys and the hotel has been urged to reconsider.
