House of Rufus on the market

The much-hyped House of Rufus CD box set has finally been released, with fans of the Canadian singer/songwriter Rufus Wainwright able to get their hands on a limited release of his 19-disc collection.

The beautifully packaged set spans Wainwright’s entire career and represents the most complete collection of Rufus Wainwright recordings to date.

The red velvet encased 90 page hardback book contains rare and unseen photos, early hand drawn tour posters, handwritten lyrics, four art prints and other memorabilia, extensive sleeve notes with interviews with Neil Tennant, Martha Wainwright, Linda Thompson and Lenny Waronker and an introduction by Wainwright himself.

The set is limited to just 3000 copies worldwide.

Wainwright finished a five-night stand at London’s Royal Opera House this week, dedicating an a cappella performance of his new song Candles to Amy Winehouse during his final performance.

An opera composed by the singer, titled Prima Donna, will be performed by the New York City Opera in 2012.
