Come celebrate Intersex Remembrance Day

A social gathering of intersex people, and their partners, friends and allies, will be held at the Courthouse Hotel in Newtown, tonight from 6pm, to celebrate Intersex Remembrance Day.

Intersex Remembrance Day falls on November 8 which is the birthday of intersex pioneer Herculine Barbin.

Barbin lived in France during the nineteenth century and was the first intersex person write an autobiography and the earliest recorded to have been subjected to a process of normalisation and binary assignment.

The gathering will celebrate the life of Barbin and other intersex elders past and present and all are welcome.
