NMG appoints head of events

New Mardi Gras (NMG) has appointed Katrina Márton as the organisation’s Head of Events.

The full time role gives Márton oversight of the overall planning, management and delivery of all NMG’s events throughout the year.

Márton has lots experience in large-scale event production, most recently as the producer of Sydney’s world famous New Year’s Eve celebrations. She was also the Executive Producer of the 2002 Gay Games, overseeing the special event program and personally producing the Opening Ceremony, five major dance parties and the Closing Ceremony.

Márton has worked for the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras on two separate occasions, as Executive Producer between 1997 and 2001 and as Production Manager between 1991 and 1994.

Katrina is the dream candidate for this position, NMG CEO Anna McInerney said in a written statement.

She is a truly world class producer and also has a unique appreciation of our events having been involved during the glorious Mardi Gras of the late -˜90s.

She is a wonderful leader and her vision for our events is inspirational. With Katrina on board I am confident in saying that Mardi Gras’ best days are ahead of it.

Márton said she was pleased to rejoin the organisation.
I am delighted to be part of the New Mardi Gras story, she said in the statement. The team here have done an amazing job rebuilding the events and brand over the last few years. I am determined to add my skills to help New Mardi Gras develop into a highly professional arts and cultural force and to make the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras by far and away the most important event in the gay world calendar.
