LCD Soundsystem – This is Happening
Confession time: critics’ darlings LCD Soundsystem have always left this particular reviewer somewhat cold. Thankfully, third album – and last, if frontman James Murphy’s retirement announcement is to be believed – This Is Happening continues in a similar style to their previous efforts, but is perhaps their strongest effort to date. Songs like You Wanted A Hit and Dance Yrself Clean don’t outstay their welcome, despite running for nine minutes each. If this is their swansong, LCD Soundsystem are going out on top.
