WAAC Launches Cheeky New Mpox PSA Featuring Holden Sheppard

Following the rise of MPox cases in WA the team at WAAC in Western Australia has released a new PSA for men who have sex with men.
The sexual health organisation has teamed up with Invisible Boys author Holden Sheppard for their latest video.
And it delivers some very unique and cheeky one liners.
Mpox Vaccinsations at Perth Steamworks
Earlier this year, we reported that MPox cases were on the rise in Western Australia after data released indicated that current cases to date in 2026 have exceeded all of those in 2025.
In response, WAAC (formerly the Western Australia Aids Council) is reaching out to the community to encourage everyone to get vaccinated.
Launching on their Instagram this week, the organisation dropped their latest public health announcement via video, taking a light-hearted approach to the serious medical issue.
“Dragging your feet when it comes to mpox? @holdensheppard is here to tell YOU why you should stop being a drongo and why getting vaccinated for mpox is important for you, your s*x life, and your health” they wrote.
Holden Sheppard leads the video, introducing himself as an “award winning author, non award winning labourer and notorious homosexual” as he makes his way to the local sex on premises venue, Perth Steam Works.
The video cleverly targets men who are on the “down low” and who may not be out publicly to friends and family, reminding them of the transmission of Mpox through skin-to-skin contact.
Sheppard is joined in the video by local Dr Daniel Vujcich, who reminds viewers they simply need to vaccination needles, 28 days apart.
“Some guys complete that they don’t like needles. But we know that the guys who come her can handle getting poked” Sheppard quips as he stands in the change room encouraging people to get their jabs.
The video goes on to detail that Perth Steam Works also hosts free medical appointments, including vaccinations on site, twice per week, Mondays from 12-2pm or Thursdays from 5.30-7.30pm.
Sheppard ends the video hilariously reminding everyone, next time they head to the “vegemite valley,” to head on in and “get a couple of pricks up ya” at the Perth Steam Works.
