Maria, you’ve gotta see her

Maria, you’ve gotta see her

Ahead of the official launch of this year’s TasPride Festival on October 31, Tassie gay and lesbian bushwalking group the Wellington Wanderers (in association with the Gay and Lesbian Community Centre) have organised a fun-filled three-night camping trip to Maria Island, off the south-east coast of Tasmania.
From October 22-25, campers can explore the great beaches, wildlife and cultural heritage the island has to offer, including the natural wonder of the Painted Cliffs, (pictured), as well as bush and coastal walks to suit all fitness levels.
The Wanderers have pre-booked accommodation in the island’s old penitentiary, which comes complete with bunk beds, toilet and shower facilities and wood heating, but tent camping is also an option for those who don’t mind roughing it. Campers are welcome to come for as long as they want — from the full three nights down to a day trip.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
