$5000 up for grabs

The Star Observer has launched a festive Christmas tree competition, Deck The Tree, that will land one lucky gay and lesbian community organisation a tidy $5000 to spend at furniture store Domayne Alexandria.

On Saturday members of the Dykes on Bikes, Harbour City Bears, Twenty10 and Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association each decorated a Christmas tree in-store at Domayne Alexandria, and shoppers who spend $50 or more at the store from now until 6pm, December 23 get to vote on which of the four festive creations is their favourite.

“This competition is another way for SSO to give back to the community, particularly during the festive season,”  publisher Scott Abrahams said.

“We’d encourage all our readers to make a point of heading to Domayne Alexandria to vote for the best decorated tree.”

The winning community group  will get to use the $5000 however they see fit – be it as a raffle prize or a donation to the charity of their choice.

The winner of the competition will be announced in-store at Domayne Alexandria at 7:30pm on Christmas Eve and online at www.starobserver.com.au

  1. Thank you to the wonderful staff at SSO for helping to organise this event and to the lovely people at Domayne for offering such a wonderful prize. No matter which group gets the nod on 23rd December the big winner will be the GLBT community.
