Survey on transphobic crime

Survey on transphobic crime

The Gender Centre and Transgender Anti-Violence Project (TAVP) is conducting a research project into how people report transphobic incidents.

The Gender Centre distributed copies of the questionnaire for the Reporting Transphobia in Australia survey at Sydney’s Mardi Gras Fair Day and sent it to supporters via email. A survey questionnaire is now online.

The questionnaire asks people whether they have experienced transphobic violence, if they reported it, how they reported it, and what their preferred avenue to report transphobic violence would be. It takes around five minutes to complete.

The Gender Centre established TAVP in May 2011 with the assistance of NSW Police, the City of Sydney and the Inner City Legal Centre to assist victims of transphobic crimes to report incidents to police nationwide and gather data about transphobic violence.

  1. And what if the transphobia is from the NSW Police? That’s what I experienced along with my privacy being breached. I no longer trust them. The Ombudsman and Privacy Commission are also hopeless.
