Fear and Freedom – Ricki-Lee
While she’s had some stellar singles in the past (remember the 2005 burst of happiness that was Sunshine?), Ricki-Lee’s two previous albums were hit and miss affairs. Thankfully, Fear and Freedom stands head and shoulders above her previous efforts, with just about every song on here sounding like a possible single. On highlights like Human, Burn It Down and Bombshell, she marries the so-hot-right-now sounds of club-ready dance-pop with the most honest and personal lyrics of her career. Even the leftover tracks are corkers – be sure to seek out the CD bonus track Left To Right, an addictive nod to her R&B-pop roots.
