Final call for Gay Games early bird registrations

Final call for Gay Games early bird registrations

The 2010 Cologne Gay Games might still be more than six months away, but once the clock ticks over to 2010 this New Year’s Eve, those planning to travel to Germany for the Games will see a 25 euro ($40) hike in the registration cost.
After midnight on December 31, all early bird discounts on registration fees for the Games finish. Registration fees include a ticket to the opening and closing ceremonies, a week-long transit pass, coverage of sport and cultural event costs, a participation medal, welcome kit, and access to other special events.
More than 2800 people have already registered to participate, a figure that organisers have said is well ahead of their projections. Several of the more popular sports are nearing capacity.
Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 will take place from July 31 to August 7 in Cologne, Germany. Up to 10,000 athletes and artists are expected to participate in 35 disciplines from badminton to wrestling, and just about everything in between. Artists and performers can also register to participate in band, chorus or cheerleading as part of the cultural festival, with three large-scale cultural events planned during the Games.
“Though the world’s economies seem to be turning around, we know that the recession could play a role in people’s decision to come to Cologne next year,” Games Cologne CEO Annette Wachter said.
“We want to make sure that everyone has a chance to register at the lowest possible price so that joining us in Cologne will be easier.”

Registering your attendance early is a win-win: it helps the nonprofit organising committee in Cologne to better plan for the eight-day long sports and cultural festival, and also ensures your place in your preferred sport.

Flight Centre in Darlinghurst is helping raise money for Team Sydney. The organisation will receive 1 percent of the ticket cost from all bookings made through the travel agency.
The donation system has been set up to help those travelling to the Gay Games in Cologne in 2010.
“Attending the Gay Games in Cologne, will be a magnificent event and we are extremely proud to support Team Sydney by offering our support and services,” Flight Centre Darlinghurst manager Peter Pestano said.
