Hip Hop Anthems – Ministry of Sound
Surprisingly for a 54-song collection, there’s very little fat that could be trimmed off these three discs. Ministry of Sound really have sourced the best hip-hop anthems since the genre emerged in the early 1980s. Queer listeners will no doubt gravitate towards femcees like Missy Elliott and Salt N Pepa, but there are many other thrills to be found here. And no matter how much time 50 Cent invests in being a homophobic tool, there’s no denying his In Da Club, which opens disc two, is one of the best singles of the past decade.
