Ian Roberts set to play gay

Openly gay rugby league player turned actor Ian Roberts has started filming Saltwater, a new queer film written by and co-starring Ronnie Kerr (Shut Up and Kiss Me, Regarding Billy). The film is in production in California.

“The characters in gay

cinema are typically very young men or all older men,” co-producer and director Charlie Vaughn said. “This film shows the intergenerational friendships between gay men of all ages.”

“I chose Saltwater as the first film in which I play a gay character because its content is something that’s very personal to me,” Roberts said. “It spoke to me in a way no other script has.”

Saltwater will be released in Australia late this year.

  1. ““Saltwater” will illustrate an ocean of emotions as its captivating characters deal with the suicide of a close friend, try to find love as gay men when timing never seems to be right and how saltwater is everywhere; in tears, sweat and the sea. ”

Let’s hope they leave the purple prose out of the screenplay and save it for the press releases.
