Manscaping for his art

Gay Kiwi artist Angelo will bring his latest collection of male nudes, Manscapes, to Sydney in his first Australian solo exhibition to be held at the Blank-“Space Gallery in Surry Hills from Thursday 20 November.

Earlier this year the artist showed his works in two group exhibitions, Outloud and the New Mardi Gras Brave New Worlds exhibition where he received high praise.

For a number of years now I’ve been painting the male, hoping to epitomise masculine beauty, the artist told Sydney Star Observer.

Having men sit for you with no clothes on is a chore I can live with and then the inspiration just comes -” pardon the pun.

His work is highly regarded in New Zealand and is mostly committed to the expression of the male form.

His subjects have a timeless sensuality. The works are sometimes evocative and at other times cheeky.

info: Angelo’s Manscapes will be exhibited at Blank-Space Gallery from Thursday 20 November until Wednesday 26 November. For more details go to www.angelo.co.nz.
