A new home in the Hunter

A new home in the Hunter

After twelve months of major renovations to the ACON facility in Newcastle and a further few months settling in, the transformation of the building into a GLBT community centre for the Hunter is well underway.

Rainbow Visions (RV) and Linking Lesbians in Newcastle (LLINC) community groups now have their new home with ACON. This new home is envisaged to be a one-stop shop for GLBT community members in the surrounding areas. Our GLBT community centre is a welcoming and safe environment for you to drop in, access the services of ACON, RV and LLINC and use public facilities. RV, LLINC & ACON can all be contacted by phone on 4927 6808.

To mark this important local amalgamation, on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, ACON invites GLBT community members to an Open House and sausage sizzle. Come along, celebrate our history and help welcome our future in the new Hunter GLBT community centre from 1pm this Sunday 28 June. Sausages and bread provided, BYO everything else. Just drop in or for more info call 4927 6808 or [email protected]

LLINC invite all gals to walk the plank for their pirate-themed women-only dance Saturday 11 July at Mayfield Bowling Club. Doors open 7pm. Tickets $8 for LLINC members, $10 non-members. For more info, call LLINC on 4927 6808 or email [email protected]

Mixed Froots host their next monthly social this Friday 26 June at Boulevard on Beaumont. Smooze, cruise and network over a few drinks, starting at happy hour from 5.30pm. Entry is by gold coin donation, with raffles, giveaways, great canapes and great company. Lastly, a reminder about Newcastle’s 2009 annual GLBT Ball, Cirque De So Gay, at the Newcastle Town Hall, Saturday 22 August from 7pm. Tickets are selling fast and available from ACON in Islington for $100 or a limited number concession tickets for $70.
