A treat for broken hearts

The Metropolitan Community Church will host another free Friday night at the movies this Friday January 14, with a screening of the 2000 cult gay classic The Broken Hearts Club.

A romantic comedy centred around the lives of a group of gay 20-somethings in Hollywood, the film follows the gang as they gather around Jack’s Broken Hearts restaurant, Jack acting as their father figure and the coach of the inept Broken Hearts softball team.

Starring Zach Braff, Timothy Olyphant and a post-Superman Dean Cain, it’s a treat for lovers of Hollywood hearthrobs too. The film screens from 7:30pm at the Church, cnr Crystal and Brighton streets. The front door will open from 7pm, and all are encouraged to come along, grab a coffee, bring some nibblies and join in the night of friendship and fun.
