Camp training day

Camp Co-op training The City of Sydney is holding a day of training on corporate governance for community groups in partnership with Camp Co-op, the Sydney Star Observer and ACON on June 18.

The training day, to be held at ACON’s new headquarters on Elizabeth St, Surry Hills, will focus on practical knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied in community organisations and will provide an opportunity to network and exchange strategies with presenters and fellow course participants.

The event will look at issues including governance in a community context; the importance of governance; how to meet the roles and responsibilities of a board or committee member; legal obligations and duties of committee members; incorporation; strategies for effective meetings; and renewal and succession planning.

The session will be facilitated by Patrick Moriarty from Our Community, an organisation which provides advice to Australia’s 600,000 community groups.

Those interested in attending should RSVP as soon as possible as spaces are limited. Entry is $15 to cover the cost of light refreshments.

RSVP to [email protected] with your name, organisation and contact number.

For questions, contact Pip Ditzell at the City of Sydney on 02 9246 7671 or at [email protected] but do not send payment to the city.
