Melbourne’s Mr Laird Leatherman crowned

TIM Grant will now represent Melbourne’s iconic The Laird Hotel on a local and national scale after he was crowned Mr Laird Leatherman last month.

Before a mostly leather-clad crowd, eight men competed for the title of Laird Leatherman 2014, a competition which is now in its sixth year.

In the end it was Grant (main image, centre) who took the sash, he will represent The Laird and Melbourne over the next 12 months. He has already made it onto the airwaves on JOY 94.9.

“I’m really stoked to be the Laird Leatherman 2014, and I’ll do everything I can to make the sash proud. I’m going to make sure that you have as much fun as I will,” Grant said in a statement.

“I’d like to give a big shout out to my fellow competitors who were competing with me. They were the best guys to have backstage and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to compete with.

“But, most of all, thank you to the community. Without you, I wouldn’t be here right now. I’ll make sure that I do you guys proud.”

Brett of The Laird said: “Judging by the crowd and the number of contestants, now more than ever, Melbourne can be proud of a very strong and diverse leather community.

“The line-up of hopefuls was varied in age, background and body types, showing passion, values confidence and a sense of humour are just as, if not more important than appearances.”

Another highlight of the evening included a live performance by Dick Savvy, a.k.a The Naked Barber, and Craig, who “put it all out there”.
