Surf’s almost up at CoastOut

Surf’s almost up at CoastOut

CoastOut’s just around the corner and word from organiser Todd Buttery is that accommodation and flights are filling fast, so now’s the time to organise a posse and get planning.

The inaugural gay and lesbian beach festival, to be held at Coffs Harbour from October 29-31, will have as its centrepiece Australia’s first ever gay and lesbian-friendly surf event, to be held on October 31 at Park Beach.

Buttery said the one-day competition will be fun yet professionally run, with events suitable for both amateurs and serious surfers. A professional team of organisers, commentators and accredited judges from Surfing NSW will be on hand on the day.

There are great prizes and trophies up for grabs for the finalists, and the winners of each division can celebrate at the Coffs Harbour Surf Club that evening at the CoastOut beach party. All competitors receive a CoastOut competition T-shirt.

The surf competition will have four divisions: Open Women, Open Men, Junior Girls and Junior Boys. The two adult winners will take home $500 in cash each. Entry numbers are limited, so make sure you sign up in advance. Download a registration form from the website.
