A member of the Victorian Police’s Community Engagement Support Team has taken the cake in this year’s annual Great Aussie Bake-Off.

Sergeant Electra Wellens took first place in the community cake section of Pride March Victoria’s fundraiser with her tower of ‘Police GLLO’ cupcakes cake.

The reward for first place was $300, with Wellens announcing that on behalf of Victoria Police she would be following the 2013 Pride March theme and giving Back to the Community – more specifically, back to Pride March.

After being judged by guest judges Kane Lillywhite, Molly Meldrum and Joel Creasey, as well as being voted the most liked cake on Facebook, Wellens’ cake was auctioned off for $700, meaning the total funds raised by the Victoria Police amounted was $1,000.

President of Pride March Victoria Shane Marquis thanked the Victoria Police for its ongoing support of Pride March and the cake fundraiser.

The Great Aussie Bake-off is the only fundraising event held for the Pride March and is held at the DT’s Hotel in Richmond.

The bake-off event raised around $12,000 with that amount being used to fund the Victorian Pride March on February 3, 2013. The march will take place on Fitzroy St in St Kilda.
