AFTER keeps Rising flames burning
With the recent closing of early morning clubbers’ institution Rising, those looking to continue their fun in the wee hours of the weekend have been asking what comes ‘After’.
Now the man behind Rising, Johan Khoury (who also gave us Daywash, Love Muscle, and Live, to name a few) presents The Phoenix AFTER Club.
It’s only on every fortnight (starting this Halloween weekend), and promises to continue in a similar style to Rising. AFTER is also the official after-party for the popular Halloween Whores party this weekend.
Each fortnight, AFTER will feature a cast of Sydney’s best DJs with international and interstate guests, and pumping tunes to keep you lifted in the early hours of the morning. Backed by Khoury’s experience abroad in London, Ibiza, and Europe, AFTER will pick up where Rising left off.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can
LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.
When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.
Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
