Capsis wins big at Sidney Myer awards

The recipients of the 2010 Sidney Myer Performing Arts Awards have been announced, with Paul Capsis taking home the Individual Award – and a tidy $50,000 in prize money.

Capsis has been busy in the past year, working across Melbourne and Sydney in the Malthouse Theatre’s Threepenny Opera, the MTC’s All About My Mother. He also found time to release an album (Make Me A King) and perform his own acclaimed one-man show, Angela’s Kitchen.

Other winners were the Australian Art Orchestra, winning the Group Award and landing $80,000, and John Paxinos for the Facilitator’s Prize, winning $20,000.
