Are there more gays on TV?

The US gay media watchdog GLAAD (The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) have released their annual Network Responsibility Index, which ranks US television networks based on the amount of gay content they produce.

This year’s study found the highest percentage of programming with gay and lesbian characters was targeted at young audiences, with shows such as Glee, 90210, Gossip Girl and America’s Next Top Model.

Even shows such as animated comedy American Dad and crime drama Bones made the list for gay characters/themes this year.

The index showed US networks that target older audiences were still lagging behind the channels.
