Joan goes camp
Joan Wasser, or Joan As Police Woman as she’s known to fans, is back with a new single and one of the year’s campest video clips.
The 40-year-old singer-songwriter, who has a loyal gay following due to her collaborations with Antony and the Johnsons and Rufus Wainwright, is known for her bleak and depressing brand of indie-pop.
Not that you would know it from her latest clip. The Magic is decidedly perky by Joan’s usual standards and the video is downright camp.
Basically, the singer spends the clip being fussed over by a pair of Speedo-wearing muscle marys – they clean her house, massage her feet and even fix her hair.
