Whitney Houston has died in Los Angeles, aged 48.

Houston was found in a hotel room, the cause of her death is still unknown.

The singer, actress and model rose to fame in the ’80s and ’90s, however, in recent times has been beset with personal issues and is said to have battled heavily with drugs.

The six time Grammy Award winner became a global superstar with her take on Dolly Parton’s I Will Always Love You, a single from film The Bodyguard (released in 1992) in which Houston played the lead role, alongside actor Kevin Costner.

The track was the best selling single by a female artist in music history.

Houston will be remembered for her incredible vocal ability and contribution to pop with songs I Wanna Dance With Somebody and Where Do Broken Hearts Go among many others.

Pop stars Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Boy George and Ricky Martin have all paid tribute to the superstar.
