Fist frenzy

There’s been plenty of fist action around the ring over the past eight weeks at the all-gay boxing group, Punch Him in the Ring.
The latest group of participants, who graduated with flying colours last week, can now serve up a mean right hook, powerful left jab, and a mother of an uppercut punch after being taught the techniques behind the series of punches, blocks and footwork that make up boxing.
“The boys have sweated their nuts off, shed a few kilos and now know how to protect themselves if push comes to shove,” PHITR ‘ringmaster’ Andrew Georgiou said.  “This isn’t boxercise, it’s all about technique and how to throw a series of powerful and effective punches and block incoming hits.”
While PHITR does not condone violence, the group does believe in empowerment through boxing and says while the classes are intense, there is always room for a filthy joke with straight trainer Stacy Batchelor in between jabs. The popular instructor recently flaunted his hetero-bear handlebar moustache at Bears night and recruited a few new members and admirers to boot.
New classes are being launched soon so those interested should book a place for January’s class now.
