Aussie comedian Julia Morris will host this year’s DIVA Awards.
Morris, best known for Full Frontal, Good News Week, Sunrise, Thank God You’re Here and The Singing Office, will host the revamped drag awards evening at the Bourbon in Kings Cross on October 26.
“I could not be more over-excited to host the DIVA Awards, but I fear that not even my insane reverse-body-dysmorphia will be able to trick me into believing I’ve the best legs on the night,” Morris said.
DIVA co-chair Dejay Toborek said securing Morris as the evening’s hostess was a considerable coup.
“We are very excited to have Julia, one of Australia’s best loved comedians and international comedy stars, involved with DIVA,” Toborek said.
“Julia has a playful and boisterous sense of humour, and I know our DIVA audience is just going to adore her. Get set for a seam-splitting and fun-filled night.”
DIVA tickets are selling fast and include free-flowing drinks and canapes for the first four hours of the event, thanks to sponsorship from The Bourbon, Zamphire (Evens & Tate), Pure Energy and Liqueur 43.
DIVA co-chair Greg Steele said anyone planning on getting tickets to DIVA should get them now.
“With Julia hosting, and a bevy of fabulous guest entertainers to perform for you, a fantastic night is guaranteed,” Steele said.
In the tradition of past DIVAs, a Bitch or Boast after-party will kick off at the Bourbon from midnight. Entry will be $15 on the door after midnight.
