Justice Cameron heads to Melbourne

Justice_Cameron_photoLGBTI community members will welcome South African Justice Edwin Cameron to Melbourne next month when he addresses a free and public conversation as part of his visit.

Cameron was described by Nelson Mandela as one of South Africa’s modern heroes and was the first senior official in South Africa to state that he was living with HIV.

He started out as a lawyer in the early 1980s during apartheid and has had an definitive impact on human rights, having worked to safeguard human rights in the country’s new constitution.

It was the first national constitution to include sexual orientation in its equality clause.

The event will be held on Saturday May 4 and will run from 3pm-5.30pm at Hares and Hyenas book store.
