Last call to support sacked church pastor
A final call has been put out to help support the sacked Baptist pastor, Rev Matt Glover.
Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) national spokeswoman Shelley Argent said she will close the account she set up to support Rev Glover and his family in the next two weeks.
“If you would still like to donate but haven’t had the opportunity, now is the time to do so,” Argent said.
Argent said one cheque had already been sent to Rev Glover before Christmas and a final amount would be handed over when the account is closed.
Last month the Star Observer reported Rev Glover, a married man with two children, had been forced to step down from his role at from Melbourne’s Lilydale Baptist Church for speaking out in favour of marriage equality.
Glover has worked with the gay community for 15 years on issues of faith and is said to be deeply upset over the experience.
A benefit for Rev Glover will be held at DT’s Hotel in Richmond, Melbourne on February 7 from 6.30pm.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can
LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.
When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.
Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
