Queer Sydney singer-songwriter Liz Martin’s new album is a life-affirming treat, considering the trying circumstances (health problems and bereavements) she faced during the writing process. Infectious opener So Long and the title track are both instantly addictive upbeat numbers, but it’s sumptuous, string-soaked ballads like Olives and Wine you’ll find yourself returning to time and time again. Martin’s eased off on the electronica soundscapes of previous albums, but they’re not missed — this is a warm, enveloping bear-hug of a record.
