ACON launches new online services

People living with HIV will be able to access a range of practical information through a new series of online resources provided by ACON.

The new online services compiled by ACON’s health promotion team provide consolidated guides to dealing with a range of issues from getting the disability pension to superannuation, dental care and general health information.

ACON community services director Russell Westacott said the new range of online services would help to assist a wider clientele of people.

We have developed a range of chapters which essentially provide information on a number of topics that come up in our day-to-day work, that people want more information on, he told Sydney Star Observer.

For the ease of our clients and in the hopes of reaching more people we have consolidated a whole lot of information into easy-to-digest chunks.

We serve a lot of people face to face, but not all people living with HIV can make it in to our offices, particularly given the changing nature of how people’s experiences have changed. Thanks to antiretroviral treatments more people are returning to work and engaging with services in different ways.

So if you’re working nine to five in Parramatta it might be difficult to make contact with a community-based organisation, so this is about maximising our reach.

A number of useful guides are now available online and the range will continue to be extended over the next six months.
