Alan Jones Trial: Former 2GB Host Denies ‘Tailoring’ Evidence To Support Jones In New Testimony

Jason Morrison, a former 2GB host, has denied tailoring evidence to assist Alan Jones in a criminal trial alleging indecent assault of six young men.

It comes after Morrison told the court on Tuesday 25 August that he did not see Jones attempt to touch a young man beneath a dining table during a lunch the two then-colleagues attended in Sydney approximately 20 years ago, alongside other friends and colleagues of Jones.

During the courtroom exchange, Prosecutor Georgina Wright SC proffered that Morrison did in fact see Jones touch the young man, “Complainant C”, and reacted with “surprise and amusement”. Wright also suggested Morrison noted that Complainant C looked uncomfortable.

Morrison denied both claims, stating he “didn’t see it” and implying that “uncomfortable” was the wrong word. The line of inquiry directly followed from witness statements Morrison had made the day prior, including one in which he described seeing Jones put his arm around Complainant C. Morrison revealed he had laughed, the joke being that “they looked like a couple”.

While Morrison confirmed he had engaged in this so-called “banter”, he denied noticing the presence of any malice, ill-intent, or discomfort between Jones and Complainant C. Despite this, Morrison conceded the act still warranted inclusion in a statement he made to police in 2024.

Wright went on to accuse Morrison of tailoring his evidence to assist Jones, to which Morrison replied, “I’m here under oath. I find that offensive.”

Previously, three other guests who were present at the lunch gave their testimony. While one of the three claimed Complainant C had looked “distraught”, the other two denied having seen any offensive behaviour on the day.

The proceedings come as part of a trial alleging Alan Jones used his power and influence to gain access to younger men before subjecting them to unwanted sexual contact over almost two decades.

Jones, 85, pleaded not guilty to all 22 charges, comprising 20 counts of indecent assault and two counts of sexual touching without consent. The charges relate to six complainants and alleged offending between 2003 and 2020.
